No, my main curiosity was the fact that the WinXP Pro (retail) disc didn't appear to offer an upgrade install versus a clean install - since it didn't detect WinMe on the disk. Thought I might've dropped the ball somewhere. Stew Stew, sounds like you were using an oem xp pro disc instead of the retail version.

Our Inspiron 7000 doesn't seem to be recognizing the touchpad (or an external mouse). I've tried a clean install as well as an upgrade from Win98. I got the latest BIOS from Dell.
